1. Preserve the core gameplay.
-
Submit a game that is so similar to the Theme Game, it would be
considered "a Theme Game-like."
- Improvements and changes are OK!
2. But make it original.
- Do not give it a name too similar to the Theme Game.
-
Do not copy any assets or code directly from the Theme Game.
-
Do not use assets that you/your team did not make unless they
are CC0/similar, or you own a commercial license to use them.
-
Games with music will be muted in the showcase livestream if:
- you didn't make the music yourself,
- the music is AI generated,
- or you plan to copyright it.
-
If you think your game might be muted, consider adding separate
music controls so that sound FX can still be heard on stream.
-
Using AI as an assistive tool is OK, BUT games might be
disqualified if:
- most/all of the game is obviously generated,
- entire game art assets are obviously generated,
- or the game audio is obviously generated.
-
Note that this rule is intended to discourage asset theft:
- not the use of locally or ethically-trained LLMs,
- or occasional GenAI use along the way.
3. Keep it clean.
-
Entries must be SFW (Safe For Work), and comply with the itch.io
TOS.
4. Make it embeddable.
-
Your game must be playable in the browser, or it will be
disqualified! This allows everyone to play with reduced concerns
about malware.
5. Submit in time.
-
You'll have approximately 1 month to work on this. Please study
the jam calendar below for exact dates.
-
Submissions will not be editable during the voting
period!
6. Vote on each other's games.
-
During the week after the jam ends, voting will be open. Please
rank as many games as you can, so we can find the best Theme
Game-like out there 😎!
7. Have funnn
-
This jam is meant to help you learn and grow. But also, remember
to take breaks and stuff. And don't put
too much pressure on yourself to
get a winning entry!
